Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse has vowed to retaliate against Tamil Tiger attacks while stressing that he wanted a negotiated settlement to the island’s ethnic strife.
Rajapakse, in a meeting with top diplomats from Sri Lanka’s key international aid donors, said that he wanted peace talks to succeed and asked the international community to mount pressure on the Tiger rebels.
